Meditate

When you run after your thoughts, you are like a dog chasing a stick: every time a stick is thrown, you run after it. Instead, be like a lion who, rather than chasing after the stick, turns to face the thrower. One only throws a stick at a lion once.

- Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche

At Aquamarine Yoga, meditation practice is not only for the practitioner’s benefit (and there are many benefits of meditation, see 10 here below) - it’s also a high five to the whole planet!

We could even say that meditation is the ultimate eco-friendly activity. It puts no extra pressure on the environment and asks for no additional resources other than the conscious connection with body, mind, and breath. Meditation lets Nature relax. Everyone gets a break and a breather while accepting all the changes of life and death in the natural experience of peace in the present.

There are different ways to practice meditation. Many people are more comfortable with moving meditation. Moving meditation, such as with Vinyasa Yoga, is valuable. Walking Meditation is helpful too. However, it is also important to practice Sitting Meditation. Sitting challenges the body to be still and quiet such that we can see and hear into the deeper mind more clearly.

Aquamarine Yoga offers Moving Meditation, Walking Meditation, and Sitting Meditation that can be traditionally classified as Shamata (calm abiding meditation) & Vipassana (insight meditation).

Whether you have a long-term practice or you are just getting started, please join us in cultivating and contributing to an inclusive meditation community!
